(More customer reviews)This book should be teached in school. We're not just reading about the Navy here, but the entire history of the United States. The author gives plenty of details on obscure periods of the american history not found in other books on the Navy. He does a great job of summarizing well documented eras and gets behind the official story by showing the psychological and human aspect of the great decisions taken by key players. We learn that the superpower status of the United States comes from its desire to become a maritime power in the first place. For everyone who wants to know how the US became what it is now. By the way, I'm Canadian.
