Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)United States Navy and Marine Corps Bases, Domestic, and the companion United States Navy and Marine Corps Bases, Overseas, both edited by Paolo Coletta, are excellent references and often good reading. The team of contributors wrote essays of varying length on each of the installations cited. Sources follow each entry with primary sources shown separately from secondary sources. The result is a major work on a subject that deserves the attention.
It has been twenty years since publication of these books. Some of the bases shown as thriving centers of excellence are now closed. But the pre-1985 historical information is unaffected by the age of the books.
A big complaint, however, is the price.
